best sister ever!

Dear Daughter won the best sister ever award today.

Today Dear Son was looking punky on the playground. Too many spins on the merry-go-wheel? Too hot and humid? Who knows but it was time to go. Dear Daughter held Dear Son by the hand all the way to the van, closed the door for him and asked if she could carry him into the house.

That was sweet but it got better...

I have been fretting over next years homeschool schedule for months. I feel that it is really time to stop sitting on the fence and see what it is we need to do in the fall. So I asked the kiddo's what they think about taking Art and Spanish classes again this year. Same teachers and here's how that went.

Me: "So, son how do you feel about taking Spanish again?"

Dear Son: "I feel horrible about it!"

Me: "OK." (I knew that was coming) "So what about taking art at share co-op again?"

Dear Son: starts to frown

Dear Daughter: "I'll be in your class this year."

Dear Son: then with a smile of relief he says, "That would be cool"

I leave them to play under the blankets building with there cool toys and I soon hear this!

Dear Son: "Your the best sister a boy could have."

How cool is that?

Bake and Destroy

Here's me in my half of the trade with Natalie. I love the kid game in the background. That's me! I guess I used to be punk once!

All done!

The notebooks are not a nice or as comprehensive as last year. I did not over achieve this year. Bummer. But they are done and they are reviewed. Another year complete.

The problem with having a review this time of year is that you are so excited about all that you and the kids accomplished. You are finally organized and you never want to be disorganized again. Then sweet Dr. Williams comes to your house and tells you what a great job you have all done. She gives you great tips on what to do better. But then WHAM its summer break.

I know myself I will not continue on and start the next year now. I will not remember all the cool tips I was given. And as always I will start off with all my ducks in a nice row. I will be so organized and then BAM by Halloween I will be back to making one million home school paper piles in all the wrong places.

I thought that acknowledge a problem helped you solve that problem. So I am off to double pinkie swear that I will change my ways. Oh the pity party that comes with to many full time jobs.

Happy summer! I am off to enjoy the gorgeous weather. Man if it could all be like this morning. I might have to sew outside today! That would be so nice!

Homeschool pinky swear

I Kelly, Mamma of Maddie and Aidan, do pinky swear never to leave the homeschool portfolio till the very last minute. I love that the dishwasher door is open and lunch is still scattered across the counter. I am living the dream! : )

I also swear never to use so many damn notebooks. I still have all these to go through.
What I am thinking? Its gonna be a long night!

Oh man its 3 hours later and I am still digging out school work. I suck! I just found a whole other bin. I am no Martha like homeschool mamma. I need type A lessons. ugh! Ugh! UGH!

Not a good time to wean off of soda!

Mommy guilt!

Last week the kids I had a blast. We had this great balance between fun time, downtime, and work time. But not this week. As I stress out about finishing up for the Renegade Craft Show this weekend, there will be NO fun. And no sleep either.

I was asked yesterday at the playground by a mom, that does some selling used stuff on Ebay, how do I make it all work. Well that is a highly loaded question. Well I don't feel like I can do it all well. I can feed kids, but not well. I can home school but not well. I can sew like the wind any day but not get a thing done very well. At least not every week.

I will ease my mommy guilt by remembering that I took them to the park at least once!

I told the Mom that if I were not making Modern June I would be doing something else. Like the summer and fall that I took down the wall separating the kitchen and dining room. Or landscaping the yards. (that took up tons of time, years) Or painting a room a new color, hell painting the entire house a new color. (not by me, I drew a crafty line there!)

Point is every little thing I have done to release my inner crafty has only enriched our lives. ONLY. So why shouldn't Modern June be any different! This is hard and yes kids are only young once blah, blah, blah! But that works for all of us. We all are only young once and we deserve so make a happy life for ourselves and the others around us. I need to remember the order in which I said that sometimes.

It's all good in the end! For now I sew like the wind, and look forward to hanging out at the pool next week with my mommy starved children. LOL!

update: I just took the kids to the pool now I have Modern June quilt. It never ever ends...

So the questions are...
What makes you feel guilty and why. How do you handle it?
